Message from the Chair of North Dorset Liberal Democrats.

In May, I was privileged to work as part of the core campaign team in Bournemouth and Poole that saw voters turn away from an out of touch Conservative council and elect hard-working Lib Dems from all walks of life. Some working for our NHS and in our schools, some running local businesses, some raising a family or having retired with a wealth of experience to offer. All committed to a vision of a brighter future for Dorset - with a council that listens to, stands up for, and empowers local people. 

Now, I plan to do the same thing right here - where I grew up - in North Dorset. Many people in North Dorset are suffering from the cost of living crisis and reduced access to NHS Dentists and Doctors. We are watching as our beautiful landscape is under threat from the climate and biodiversity emergency, and we have a Conservative Council that simply doesn’t listen and can’t even get basic maintenance right.
Well, together, we can change this. Our growing team of volunteers believe that only by rolling up our sleeves can we take action to improve things. So, whether you want to support the campaign or even stand as a candidate yourself, now is the time to get involved. 
Which ever way you may have voted in the past, if you share our belief that things can be better, then get in touch - this isn’t about just lending votes at election time - it’s bigger than party politics, it’s a chance to feed in your ideas and help shape our shared future. After-all, empowering ordinary people is at the very core of liberalism! 

If you do choose to put yourself forward and are selected as a candidate then I will back you to get elected and be that local champion our communities need to build a kinder, fairer society. These months before us will determine the decades ahead. North Dorset needs change - it’s time to unite for change.
